Poem

Love
Marli Trecartin
Fall down; crushed by a rose petal
The softness clawing at your face
What was once accepted you have now rejected
The kindness causing pain
What words must be spoken to show you love?
Has love never been what it should?
When words of admiration are spoken
They sting your heart
If you were exalted would you be cut?
When they say you are beautiful
Let it not be as a dagger piercing your heart
Let tears of love come wash your pain
Let it heal your wounded soul
Take in once more the scent of the rose
Feel the velvet of its touch
Do not cower when affection is shown
Let not your fear drive you to run
Come to love
See its beauty
Let it teach you
Let it mold you
Come to love and learn to love
Love will not push you
Love will not hurt you
Love is soft
Love can heal
Stand up; hold a rose
Feel the silky petals
Let kindness be a kiss
Will you let love in?

Shaneara's journal

The battle rages on, even after three days, I still remember sitting at the gate, wondering who would return from this repulsive war. The sound of the others wailing, is painful to my ears, and yet I wish to do the same. If only I could have gone to the battle lines, then if I were to die, I would never have to hear of the tragedy of others. The flowers which I have pressed between these pages may soon be laid on a grave, in remembrance of a loved one. I fear I cannot wish my father to come back, for he passed in a battle many years ago. My dearest brother Rammod must return, as must the only true love of all my days: Jolen, both of which are too young to die. Although age has no distinction, no one should have to die such a death as at an enemy’s sword. This is a thought that enters my exhausted mind much too often. Sleep has not been a close friend of mine these past few days. Even though we were well aware that an attack was at hand, and we knew a siege would soon be laid on the city, I still fear for the lives of the men. My conversations have been cut to minimum; most of the ladies have mastered the art of nervous chatter to distract their troubled minds, from thinking unnerving thoughts about your family. I have been told by many, that I am too serious a girl for my own good, but I simply do not wish to cause my distraught thoughts to wander away from feeling the pain of those on the front. Thus is the reason for my mouth being set in a firm grim line. From my seat, I can hear the clashing of swords against armour, and the twang of bows, as a mighty arrow is released; a sound that does not comfort a grieving heart. If only this battle would end in victory! But then what is victory in a battle of flesh and blood? I cannot help but wonder what the women on the enemy’s side are going through at present. They are not overcome by the mortifying sounds, but perhaps the silence is deafening all the more. It is impossible to distinguish the cries as coming form the foe, or our beloved Effevlians, which is very much a greater distress set upon my sagging shoulders. I find it an increasing difficulty to remember the voices of the ones dear to my heart above the clamour and confusion outside and surrounding this terror-stricken city. The food at all meals is as appetizing as ash, and drink is coal in my site. I wish only to hear Ramod’s soft voice, and to gaze once more into the tear-stained eyes of my dearest love; Jolen. It is as if they have already passed, as a wilted flower, and yet a slight hope remains shadows of a fearful heart. It is a tale of deep sorrow, and I only wish to know the end of it. What if the day, four long days ago, was the last time I will see one of the two closest to my heart? Life without them, shall seem aimless, and void of some essential thing. How my heart longs to once again not feel so alone in a world of other beings surrounding me. Will life ever be the way it was before this indescribable worry came upon me? I wish not to move forward, but to look back at the already fading memory of the smiles, the tears, the sorrows, and joys we shared. Why did this revolting war have to interrupt a life of such abundance? This depressing sorrow shall follow me, until the moment I hear of the fate that has been bestowed on my loved ones, so I shall say my good byes, and close you, for the night is no longer young. Perhaps by morning my report shall be more pleasant to behold, but then it may not be worth recording for the pain may be unbearable, only time will tell. Only time will tell.

Light

The Darkness creeps in, and consumes many things, But there is a light, that overcomes all things that walk upon the earth. A light that many do not understand, but many love at the sight of. A light that many hate, but can not kill. The shadows seek to swallow it up with their evil deeds. When will they learn there is no way of putting out the passion of a burning flame? Light consumes obscurity, not ever releasing it to be free again. A candle may grow dim, but a flickering flame remains. Light never shrinks back from overwhelming darkness, for it knows it is powered by Something much greater than the nothingness of night. What is darkness to alarm a human? It is made of only nothingness. Who are we to run away, when darkness comes, if we beleive we can quietly resist it, and it will and has to flee from us? What weapon formed against us shall prosper? NONE, for the light burns the weapons away. In the brilliance of the face of the Son, the arms of darkness crumble. He is the light that over powers all means of enemy warfare. His gaze captivates the heart of those who love him, and makes them look like him. Look toward the Son, let his radiance over take your heart, and flow in what He has for you, and you will become like the One you love.

Lydia

The sound of the great symphonies arising around me, surounding me, almost playing on the inside of me. The glorious sight of the swishing dresses, with colors so numerous, cast off a glow of joyous festivities. A grand sound of wind catching sails, on a ship off to sail the magnificent sea, is the sound of the skirts swooping, but with a feeling much finer. Oh the glorious feeling of the silks, I gather beneath my finger tips, to curtsy to the gentleman bowing across the way. My eyes do not wish to glance away from his own; shining so blue. I begin to feel my heart beat fast, as we dance a slow romantic piece, played upon a brilliant fortepiano. The scent rising is that of rich perfumes, and oils, the women are adorned in. Following the waltz, I glance upon the glittering walls, portraits, mirrors, and iluminating candles lining themselves across the room. As I steal a glance in one of the looking glasses, with a golden frame, my attention is captured by a statuette of the Queen herself, standing alone on a shelf on the opposite side of the festively decorated ballroom. As I work my way, crossing the room for a closer look, a lady standing beneath it catches my attention, for she is flailing her hands, in nervous frustration. One glance is the only explaination I need for such behavior; she has overturned a crystal goblet of red wine, and it has toppled down the front of her gown of golden velvet. By looking past this unfortuate lady, I am able to see an open fortepiano. My lady like steps quicken, and I slip onto the glossy bench. My hands naturally fall into place upon the welcoming keys, I begin to play, in a dream world of my very own, not realizing I have begun to draw a crowd. At the end of my piece my dream world comes crashing around me, as the incredible sound of hands, coming together in applause, reaches my tingling ears. At this point, my cheeks start to burn, I am relieved to realize, there is another young lady, awaiting her turn. I quietly slide from the smooth bench, and escape the smiling stares, of the women with silky curls encirling their faces, and the grinning men, bowing as I arise from my seat. It is soon time to leave, and go home to the normal everyday life. Good bye dazzling room of so many colors.

Lessons

I have learned that there are lessons being learned every day, we just have to search for them. God uses the things that are the hardest things for you, to help you keep your eyes on Him. It is important to remember that the "smallest" sin in life is just as bad as the "biggest", but also that the "smallest" revelation is just as good as an open vision. Both speak of God's unbeatable power. Notice that all in all you feel the same after a huge revelation as after the slightest nudge of his love. Think of the most beautiful person you know, their beauty does not compare to the beauty of the cross...
I guess this is just something to think about...
bye

The Lion

If it were possible, I believe this strong, brave, and emotionless creature would have cryed. Holding emotions in day after day, year after year, when his heart would burst into a weeping unheard for so many years. You may figure by his original expression, that he has never experienced deep sorow, but as time goes on tears are rolling down his proud and noble face. No one knows what makes this huge beast cry, but the tears that are falling tell of hurting, and unbearable greif. No one knows what he has seen, or heard, who it happened to or when. But the sorrow is great, and his feelings are broken. As he brakes out in emotion, and tears just won't stop, he gives up holding them back. At first the bystanders are surprised, then they start to cry, for his pride is broken, and they are relieved to see his true emotions fly. Has this grand monster finally been over taken? When he has finally run dry of tears, he looks to the sky, with his melencholy expression, alowing the sun to dry his face. His pride has been damaged, but he is still able to feel the confedence of being a leader.
